I will write about this in FundInvestor at a later date but wanted to share with you the names of all the funds making the test. I should note that some of these funds, such as Columbia Acorn Z, only passed for a closed share class. So, that's good news if you own it but not much help otherwise. T. Rowe Price has released its estimates of capital gains payouts for year-end. As you might expect, most funds have none scheduled, but a few have small short-term gains planned. That's typical of what we're hearing from most fund companies. Vanguard said it will make its estimates on Nov. 13. The bottom line is that for most funds this year's rally has brought them back to close to neutral capital gains positions. That means if they go up some more from here you may get some distributions in 2010, but at least you still don't have to worry about a big bill or getting leftover capital gains from before you bought the fund.
